EPAL

European Pallet Association e.V. (EPAL) was founded in 1991 as an umbrella organization of licensed manufacturers and repairers of EPAL/EUR pallets and mesh boxes. EPAL is responsible for the consistent quality of EPAL load carriers worldwide and relies on independent external quality auditing. Since August 1, 2013, EPAL has had Euro pallets produced and repaired under exclusive license with the branding “EPAL in oval” on four corner blocks.

How does the system work?

Manufactured under strict quality controls, EPAL quality-tested Euro pallets are regularly inspected for safety. All EPAL-approved flat pallets bear a test clip with the EPAL quality mark.

Based on standardized and quality-assured Euro pallets, the “EPAL system” represents a cross-industry, open pallet exchange pool. Based on the exchange criteria specified by EPAL, the respective exchange partners agree among themselves on the most cost-effective exchange for them: “pallet for pallet”, via pallet accounts to be reconciled, etc.

As a long-standing member and partner of the European Pallet Association (EPAL), we see it as our duty to guarantee the high quality standards of EPAL and to pass these on to you, our “CUSTOMERS”.

IPPC

IPPC treatment is an internationally recognized standard used to prevent the spread of pests found in solid wood.

The import regulations “ISPM 15” for wooden packaging have been in force since 2003. These regulations say that for solid wood packaging imported into the EU from non-EU countries or exported from EU countries to one of the member states of the ISPM must be IPPC treated.

Within the EU and for plastic or INKA pallets, IPPC treatment is not required.

During the heat treatment, the pallets to be treated are exposed to heat for min. Heated and dried at a temperature of 56°C for 30 minutes to permanently eliminate possible pests in the wood.

The IPPC marking on the middle block makes the heat-treated pallets recognizable even from a distance.

An extra-natural IPPC treatment for already used one-way or Euro pallets, gives our customers the security to be able to re-export their used load carriers.
